Who am I?
I'm the owner and founder of Scientifically Sweet and mom of 2 littles. My husband is also a Food Scientist, so we are a pair of food experts developing recipes that you can trust! I have always been obsessed with food for as long as I can remember and my oldest kid certainly takes after me already. My obsession with food started at a very young age as I come from a large Italian family where food has always been at the center of attention. This love for food and my curiosity of baking led me to study Food Science for 6 years and pursue a career in the food industry developing products you buy in grocery stores!
I have first hand experience creating food products at a large scale in food factories of all kinds all over the world. My passion is applying food science to test new baking techniques, and most of all I LOVE CHOCOLATE. My educational background, professional experience and accomplishments include:
- Master's degree in Food Science & Technology
- Over 15 years experience working as a corporate Product Developer
- Product development consultant
- Author of 3 baking cookbooks

Education
I studied at the University of Guelph to obtain my Bachelor of Science major in Food Science. I then travelled to Europe where I attained my Master's degree in Food Science as well. Food Science encompasses the chemistry, physics, engineering and art of making food. That means any baking-related issue can be resolved or realized using a scientific eye, and recipes CAN be simple and successful when designed correctly. Expertise
I studied Food Science for 6 years in Canada and in Europe where I earned a Master's degree in Food Science & Technology. Since then I have been working in the food industry for over 15 years creating novel food products across the country for the retail market for Canada's number one leading supermarket chain. I specialize in bakery, confectionery and chocolate.
Experience
I have worked as a professional Food Scientist for grocery retailers in Australia and Canada where I've developed baking mixes, confectionery products and a variety of other food products including cooking sauces, marinades and baby food. I have travelled all over the world to test the creation of these new food products with several different manufacturers. I have several years experience as a Pastry Chef at Toronto's top fine dining restaurant.
Cookbook Author
I have self-published three cookbooks on baking recipes and science under the title "Scientifically Sweet". My debut cookbook includes classic and creative recipes with detailed technique. My second book "Scientifically Sweet: Chocolate" is a chocolate lover's paradise! This book is dedicated to chocolate recipes and chocolate science & history. The third publication "Scientifically Sweet: Occasions" is well rounded with recipes for every occasion. Read more about my books here. Recipe Developer
In addition to developing and testing original recipes for my cookbooks and this blog, I also develop recipes for clients using high quality products that I believe in.
