I'm a Food Scientist (MSc.), Product Developer, former Pastry Chef, obsessive home baker, never-recovering chocoholic and writer of this here blog! I'm so glad you're here.
I have always been obsessed with food. I love trying new flavours and applying food science to test new baking techniques, but most of all I LOVE CHOCOLATE and everything sweet. My obsession with food started at a very young age as I come from a large Italian family where food has always been at the center of attention.
What does Food Science mean?
Food Science encompasses the chemistry, physics, engineering and art of making food. That means any baking-related issue can be resolved or realized using a scientific eye, and recipes CAN be simple and successful when designed correctly. I studied Food Science for 6 years in Canada and in Europe where I earned a Master's degree in Food Science & Technology. Since then I have been working in the food industry for over 10 years developing all kinds of food products that you buy at the supermarket. I have also spent several years working as a pastry chef.
My favourite role - Author! I have self-published two cookbooks both under the title "Scientifically Sweet". My debut cookbook includes classic and creative recipes with detailed technique. My second book "Scientifically Sweet: Chocolate" is a chocolate lover's paradise! This book is dedicated to chocolate recipes and chocolate science & history. Read more about my books here. All of them are written, edited and photographed by me and are a true work of passion.
In addition to developing and testing original recipes for my cookbooks and this blog, I also develop recipes for clients using high quality products that I believe in.
